The Back Porch

The Back Porch at Theatre Suburbia is a new and exciting event dedicated to offering a stage for our local artists to shine on. Each series will present a variety of performances which could include anything from musicians and singers to one-act plays and monologues to stand-up comedy and improv and more.

All Back Porch events are pay as you wish. No reseverations required. See you there!

Brett Duggan

Brett Duggan will bring his one-man comedy show about being an olderĀ father, a dyslexic college professor, as well as a recovered alcoholic and head injury survivor. It is a surprisingly fun way to question our mortality, sanity, and what is normal?. Brett has toured the country doing his standup comedy. He has acted on stage and on Network TV. He is a college professor at LSU, where he founded the Baton Rouge Improv Comedy Festival.

Artist Submissions

Theatre Suburbia is pleased to open up our Back Porch to performance artists in our community seeking a stage on which to showcase their work.

To have your piece considered for inclusion, please submit your request via this form. Please note that submission does not guarantee you a spot in the line up. We will finalize our selections once the submission period has ended.

Performance pieces should be at least 20 minutes in length, but no longer than 2 hours. The number of available slots per evening will vary depending on the length of submitted pieces.

Please note that this is not a paying gig. You will not required to pay a rental fee. Audiences will not be charged for admission. Any donations collected will be retained by the theater to help offset costs incurred in hosting the event.
